SPORTSPORTAL

Terms of Service

The agreement between you and Sports Portal.

Last updated: August 10, 2026 (version 2026-08-10)

In short: Sports Portal is a free, opt-in tool for a community sports league. We charge nothing, we run no ads, and we provide it as-is. Taking part in sport is at your own risk, and we accept no liability for it. You can delete your account and your data at any time.

1. Agreement

These Terms govern your use of Sports Portal, operated by Vancouver Jamaat — Sports Portal ("we," "us"). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use Sports Portal.

Our Privacy Policy forms part of these Terms.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the EEA) to hold an account. Accounts for younger players must be created and managed by a parent or guardian, who accepts these Terms on the child's behalf and is responsible for their use of the service.

3. Your account

  • Give accurate registration information and keep it current.
  • Keep your password confidential — you are responsible for activity under your account.
  • Tell us promptly at the contact address below if you suspect unauthorised access.
  • Do not share, sell, or transfer your account to anyone else.
  • One account per person. Duplicate accounts distort ratings and leaderboards and may be removed.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Harass, threaten, abuse, or discriminate against other members.
  • Post content that is unlawful, hateful, obscene, or infringes someone else's rights.
  • Deliberately falsify match results, manipulate skill ratings, or create fake accounts to affect standings.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any account, server, or data.
  • Scrape, crawl, or bulk-extract data about other members.
  • Interfere with the service's operation, including circumventing rate limits or security controls.
  • Impersonate another person, or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone.

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these rules. For serious breaches we may do so without notice.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of everything you post — messages, comments, photos, and match notes. You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display, and distribute that content solely for the purpose of operating Sports Portal. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies already shared with other members and for anonymised match records as described in the Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for what you post and confirm you have the right to post it.

6. Match results and ratings

Skill ratings, badges, leaderboard positions, and tournament outcomes are generated from recorded match results. They are for recreational purposes and carry no guarantee of accuracy.

If you believe a result is wrong, use the in-app dispute process. Organisers and administrators may correct scores, reverse rating changes, or void matches where a result was entered in error or in bad faith. Their decision on a disputed result is final.

7. A free, voluntary service

Sports Portal is provided free of charge. We do not charge you to create an account, join a team, enter an event, or use any feature. There is no subscription, no paid tier, and no advertising.

Participation is entirely opt-in. You choose whether to create an account, which events and tournaments to join, and what information to share. You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time, for any reason, with no cost or penalty.

Because we provide this at no charge and receive nothing in return, the disclaimers in sections 9 and 10 are a condition of us offering it at all. If they are not acceptable to you, please do not use Sports Portal.

8. Events, tournaments, and entry fees

Events and tournaments are organised by league organisers, not by us. We provide the software. We do not supervise play, provide or inspect venues, verify participants, or guarantee that any event will happen.

We do not collect entry fees for ourselves. Where an organiser collects one, payment is handled by Stripe under its own terms, and the money is the organiser's. Entry, refunds, cancellations, and disputes about fees are entirely between you and the organiser — we are not a party to that arrangement and have no responsibility for it.

9. Physical activity — you take part at your own risk

Sports Portal is a scheduling and record-keeping tool. It is not a coach, a referee, a trainer, or a safety supervisor.

Sport carries an inherent risk of injury, including serious injury. By taking part in any activity you find, schedule, or record through Sports Portal, you voluntarily assume that risk in full. You are responsible for judging your own fitness to play, for your own equipment, and for the conditions you choose to play in.

We accept no responsibility for any injury, loss, or damage arising from any activity organised, scheduled, or recorded through the platform. That responsibility rests with you and, where relevant, the organiser and the venue.

10. No warranties and no liability

Sports Portal is provided "as is" and "as available", with no warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and uninterrupted or error-free operation.

We do not guarantee that the service will be available, that data will be preserved, or that scores, ratings, standings, or schedules will be accurate. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature, or the whole service, at any time and without notice.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no liability whatsoever arising out of or connected with your use of Sports Portal. This includes, without limitation: personal injury; lost, corrupted, or deleted data; incorrect results, ratings, or standings; missed or cancelled events; disputes with other members or organisers; and any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — whether or not we were told such damages were possible.

You use this service at your own risk. If you are dissatisfied with it, your sole and exclusive remedy is to stop using it and delete your account.

We take regular backups, but we do not guarantee against data loss. If a record matters to you, keep your own copy — you can export everything at any time from the Privacy Centre.

Some jurisdictions do not permit the exclusion of certain liability — notably for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or where non-waivable consumer rights apply. Nothing above is intended to exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and if any part of this section is held unenforceable, the rest continues to apply to the fullest extent the law allows.

11. Ending your account

You may delete your account at any time from the Privacy Centre or via the deletion request form. What happens to your data is set out in section 7 of the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate your account for breach of these Terms, or if required by law. Where practical we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond.

12. Changes

We may update these Terms. For material changes we will notify you and ask you to accept the new version when you next sign in. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes will be heard in the courts of British Columbia.

If you are a consumer in the EEA or UK, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer-law provisions of the country you live in, or of your right to bring proceedings there.
