Cookie Policy

What we store in your browser, and why.

Last updated: August 10, 2026 (version 2026-08-10)

We do not use tracking cookies. There are no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies, no third-party cookies, and no cross-site trackers on Sports Portal. Everything listed below is either required to keep you signed in, or a preference stored only on your own device.

1. Why there is no 'reject all' button

Consent banners exist because most sites set cookies that benefit the site rather than the visitor. We do not set any of those, so there is nothing to reject: the cookies we use either keep your session alive or remember a setting you chose yourself.

Under GDPR Art. 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive, strictly necessary cookies do not require consent. We still show a one-time notice so you know they exist, and you can dismiss it permanently.

2. Strictly necessary

These are required for the site to function. Blocking them will sign you out and break form submissions.

NameTypePurposeDuration
authjs.session-tokencookieKeeps you signed in. Without it you would have to re-enter your password on every page.30 days
authjs.csrf-tokencookieProtects sign-in and form submissions against cross-site request forgery.Session
authjs.callback-urlcookieReturns you to the right page after signing in.Session
sp_cookie_consentlocalStorageRemembers that you acknowledged the cookie notice, so it is not shown again.12 months

3. Preferences

These remember display choices. They live in your browser's local storage, are never transmitted to our servers, and clearing them only resets the app to its defaults.

NameTypePurposeDuration
sp_themelocalStorageRemembers your light/dark theme choice.Until cleared
sp_accentlocalStorageRemembers your accent colour choice.Until cleared
sp_compactlocalStorageRemembers whether you prefer the compact layout.Until cleared
sp_dashboard_homelocalStorageRemembers which page your dashboard opens on.Until cleared

4. Cookies vs. local storage

The distinction matters for your privacy, so it is worth stating plainly:

  • Cookies are sent to our server with every request. We use these only for authentication and CSRF protection.
  • Local storage never leaves your device. Your theme, accent colour, and layout preferences are stored here, and our servers never see them.

Both categories are listed above regardless, because both write to your device and you are entitled to know about it.

5. The mobile app

The Sports Portal mobile app does not use cookies. It stores your authentication token and display preferences in the device's secure storage, and clears them when you sign out or uninstall.

6. Managing them

  • Every major browser lets you view, block, and clear cookies and local storage in its privacy settings.
  • Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in.
  • Clearing preference keys resets the interface to its defaults; nothing else is affected.
  • Signing out clears your session cookie immediately.
